Overview
I make metal percussion instruments (cymbals, gongs, etc.) that are also works of visual art. Some customers buy them purely as the latter though my passion is for sound and visuals together.
I create my instruments from a range of different metal alloys (such as Bronze and Stainless Steel) using hammers, anvils and fire.
My work ranges from the relatively normal (i.e. plain old round) to the very sculptural. A lot I create from my own ideas, but I also do commissioned work. My instruments are used by kit-drummers, orchestal percussionists, studio musicans, touring musicians, art collectors, etc. - including a number of grammy award winning artists.
As well as having customers in the UK, I export a fair amount of my work to continental Europe and the USA and, more recently, Japan.
