Event overview:
Marion Foale is to give an informal talk at Image, the style setting boutique in Bath’s Milsom Place on Monday 1st November at 12.00 noon. Foale and Tuffin were two of the most influential designers at the heart of the cultural explosion in London in the sixties. The Foale and Tuffin label was what cool girls wore - colourful, pop-inspired mini-dresses and trend-setting trouser suits were just some of the key pieces that were ahead of their time in developing popular, desirable fashion. Now, Foale is renowned for her highly fashionable, highly collectable, feminine knitwear designs, inspired by the glamour of the forties.
Marion Foale moved into knitwear in the 1970's knowing very little about the subject. At the time hand knitting was fashionable and most people were wearing hand knitted garments with fancy Arran and Fairisle knit patterns. For over thirty years Marion Foale has hand-knitted the finest wool and cotton jackets available in the world. Inspired by the glamour of the forties, her knitwear is exquisite in its fit and form, always accentuating the feminine. Each jacket takes over 300 hours to make using only the finest cotton and wool yarns. Her sweaters are collected by many women and dearly cherished.
Marion has a distinctive style and her designs are easy to spot. They are very English and rely on their immaculate shaping and the imaginative use of traditional stitches for their stylish good looks. “We sell Marion Foale jackets every season, people love them” according to Min Stevenson, owner of Image in Mislom Place. “ We are very excited to give our Foale fans a chance to meet the maker of such a superb collection,” she continued.
