Explore the future of publishing at Book Hackday.

Part of the Media Futures 2011 Future of Publishing programme, Book Hackday, will gather creatives from all corners of the publishing, broadcasting and mobile industries to examine the future of the written word.

Book Hackday is taking place on Saturday 14 May at the Free Word Centre in Farringdon, London.

The Future of Publishing is a programme of events designed to facilitate innovation and create transformational change within the publishing industry, and has been developed in partnership with Cyprus Well, supported by the South West Creative Industries iNet.

The Hackday will bring together content creators, researchers, technologists and designers from the publishing industry and other industries such as mobile and broadcast to network and develop concepts and prototypes. Lightning Talks take will place throughout the day to inform and inspire participants. Teams will form to work on the ideas, and develop prototypes exploring new forms of content and interaction. The best prototypes developed at the Hackday will be presented at the Future of Publishing on 6 October in Bournemouth. (You can add the Hackday to your calendar via the shared event listing.)

If you are interested in attending, you can sign up via the Book Hackday website or contact Media Futures to let them know you are planning to attend. Media Futures is able to offer five attendees from the South West up to £50 to support their travel costs in order to attend.

Book Hackday will be documented on the Media Futures site, and the programme will continue to include Workshops in the South West and the Future of Publishing conference in Bournemouth.
