FILM ACADEMY
Danger of boredom at half-term? Fancy yourself as the next Tarantino or Hitchcock? Why not spend two days learning the tricks of the film and TV trade?
Working in a group - with state-of-the-art kit under the guidance of award-winning TV professionals - you will make your own film, worthy of Hollywood itself, showcasing your talents, ideas and creative skills you didn't even know you had.
Suitable for young people aged 11 - 17.
You will learn how to:
- -> Develop and write scripts
- -> Present to camera
- -> Film broadcast quality material
- -> Direct a professional film crew
- -> Understand light and sound
- -> Work in a production team
- -> Edit like a pro
- -> Add music and titles
After completing the workshop, you will have the skills to be able to make films about anything you like.
Here’s how it works:
Introduction - Get to know the trainers and the rest of the group
Brainstorm - How to turn your talents and ideas into film
Presenting to camera - Simple tips to build confidence and make you look and sound great
Green Screen - Set your film against the backdrop of any location you can think of
Directing - Filming cutaways, actuality sequences, close-ups etc. Each team gets a turn to direct a professional camera crew!
Editing - Putting it all together using Adobe Premiere Pro, the software the BBC use
Add music and motion graphics - from our own copyright-free library
Add titles, astons (captions) and credits
Details:

- -> New Apple iMac computers to work on
- -> Kodak Zi8 HD camera kits (one between two)
- -> Panasonic AF-101 crew (latest high end HD broadcast camera)

What you need:
Please bring an object that you would say defines you in some way. This can be an instrument, a book, a photo - anything which can provide inspiration for our film brainstorming.
Day One - Developing, Presenting and Filming
Day Two - Editing, and your Film Premier with Award Ceremony (parents welcome to join!)
Not only do you have the chance to walk away with a prestigious film award, but you can also get a DVD of all the films made on the day.
