Event overview:

THE PETER HALL COMPANY 2011
HENRY IV part 2 by William Shakespeare

Starring Desmond Barritt as Falstaff, with David Yelland, Philip Voss and Lizzy McInnerny
Directed by Sir Peter Hall.

Thrilling, funny and majestic, Shakespeare’s Henry IV plays are a drama of family life and a great English epic, chronicling complex relationships between fathers and sons, kings and princes, heroes and villains. Encompassing the entire panorama of English life, from the sleazy taverns of Eastcheap to the stately splendour of the royal court, HENRY IV includes Shakespeare’s greatest comic creation, Falstaff, alongside the schemer, Hal (later to become Henry V) and the honour-obsessed Hotspur.

At the start of part 2, Prince Hal begins his progression towards becoming heir apparent and, on his father’s death bed, he promises to reform, In a devastating finale, Falstaff, greeting his old friend, the new monarch, is rejected.

A company of over 30 includes Desmond Barritt, who in 2001 received an Olivier Award nomination for his performance as Falstaff for the RSC

We have tickets available for the performances on Wednesday 13th, Thursday 14th & Friday 15th July (7.30pm).
