Event overview:

Love Letters, the story of one man, one woman and the post
Can you remember the last actual letter you received?

In this age of emails, texts and social networking, the art of letter-writing is dying a sad and painful death.

Bath theatre company, Butterfly Psyche Theatre, is rallying against the Death of the Letter by performing the American classic and Pulitzer Prize-nominated play, Love Letters this September at The Rondo Theatre.

This bittersweet comedy was first performed in 1989 and intimately examines the unique and delicate art of letter-writing and continues to be a favourite among audiences.

Through over 50 years of their letters to each other, Melissa Gardner (played by Alison Farina) and Andrew Makepeace Ladd III (played by Jeremy Fowlds) discuss the hopes and ambitions, dreams and disappointments and victories and defeats that have passed between them throughout their separated lives.

Butterfly Psyche Theatre is very excited to present this funny and touching play about writing. Artistic Director, Alison Farina says:

“The practice of writing makes up a huge part of Butterfly Psyche’s ethos as a company. This play not only captures the joy and excitement felt when writing, but reminds us that through writing, our loves, memories and ‘who we really are’ are carefully preserved and cherished forever.”

Love Letters is the third in a critically and artistically successful sequence of shows produced by Butterfly Psyche since their inception in September 2010. The the latest being a Tobacco Factory Script Space winner (2009) Water’s Not So Thick, by Gill Kirk this past June and the debut of The Persistence of Memory by Alison Farina, last September.

Love Letters will run for only two nights (Thursday the 15th and Friday the 16th of September 2011) at The Rondo Theatre, so it is best to book tickets early.

Ticket prices are £12 and £10 can be booked at the Bath Box Office or, if available, on the door at the Rondo Theatre a half-hour before the performance.
