Overview

Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Arts Development team require a freelancer for the delivery of Quest – an exciting Cultural Olympiad project in 2012.  This role requires flexibility with some evening and weekend work.

This is a freelance role for a total fee of £14,000 for a 10 month contract from 1 March – 31 December 2012. The actual number of days per week will vary according to project demands. The role will require indicative 4 days per week Mar – Oct 2012. Continuing at an indicative 2 days per week 1 Nov – 31 Dec 2012.

The deadline for applications is: Monday 20th February 2012 at 10 am. Interviews with short listed applicants will be held on Monday 27th February 2012. Ideally with an immediate start.

This role requires:

  • Experience of developing, managing and editing a large website;
  • Willingness to work to direction and contribute as part of a small team;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written & oral) and ability to offer basic training / technical support for people with minimal IT / web skills;
  • Evidence of ability to write and present high quality, engaging website content for a range of audiences;
  • Highly organised to prioritize a demanding workload with strict deadlines;
  • Community-led approach to encourage groups, individuals and schools to record and share their Quest projects and challenges online;
  • Excellent IT literacy  with experience of X/HTML and style sheets and use of social media such as You Tube, Vimeo, blogs, Facebook and Twitter;
  • Experience of  websites based on content management systems and preparing and presenting multi media for use online (film, audio, and images);
  • Web design / multi-media editing experience e.g. Flash, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, audio-visual;
  • Ability to devise online guidelines for moderating, editing and publishing content.
