Brain of Bath logo competition winner revealed!

It is our great pleasure here at Creative Bath to announce local design agency, Ignition, as the winners of our latest "design a logo" competition. The winning logo can be seen below:

The brief was to design a logo to strengthen the identity of one of Bath's most popular charity events, Julian House's Brain of Bath quiz. Now in it's 13th year, the event has become a firm fixture on the corporate calendar, and it is hoped that the new branding will further encourage companies to participate.

Open to Creative Bath members and local students, we received a flood of great entries from all over the local area. The open brief gave rise to a fantastic range of designs, showcasing the strength of Bath's design sector.

Cecil Weir, funding manager for Julian House and one of the competition judges, has been organising the event since 2001:

"When Greg Ingham from Creative Bath came to us and made the generous offer of tapping into the huge design talent pool that exists in the city, we were delighted!  We always try and ensure that the maximum amount of money generated by events such as the Brain of Bath goes directly towards our work. Sometimes this means that we commit less resource to things like branding.

There were some great design ideas from the Creative Bath members but Ignition’s entry stood out from the rest. I’m sure that it will add extra impact to the event and help it to be as popular in years to come. As a small thank you to the Ignition team we’ve invited them to take part in this year."

As well as winning a table on this year's quiz, Ignition also receive a free membership to Creative Bath, allowing another member of this talented design agency access to a fantastic range of free events, networking and directory listings on our website.

Adam Lloyd-Smith, Creative Director at Ignition, gave us an insight into how Bath's rich city heritage inspired the design:

"Because this is a Bath event, we wanted to incorporate a little bit of Bath into the logo. For example the colour palette was inspired by the stone, the imagery by it's Roman heritage and the typography by the Georgian street names engraved into the walls of it's wonderful architecture. The finishing touch were the laurel wreaths which represent victory or achievement - a reference to the main event.

We were delighted when we received the news and it's really great that we can do our bit to help a local charity and raise some much needed funds.

The Ignition team are really looking forward to the event too, it should be a great night."

Monty Python’s Terry Jones will be the quizmaster at the event which takes place on 30th June in the elegant surroundings of the Assembly Rooms.

Most of the tables have already been reserved but a handful are still available. But you'll have to be quick, as entries close on 10th June. Further details are available on the Julian House website or by contacting Cecil Weir on 01225 354652.

We would like to thank to all the designers who took part. Keep checking our website and sign up to our newsletter to be the first to hear about future events and competitions from Creative Bath.
