Get creative to solve Bath's problem
Did you read Creative Bath Chair, Greg Ingham’s, inaugural Bath Chronicle column?
Entitled ‘Get creative to solve the city’s problems” Greg talks passionately about
Bath’s need to develop a Creative Hub, connecting start-ups and freelancers as well
as retaining a greater number of graduates from the City’s two universities.
Greg argues that without serious development in Bath’s technology and creative
sectors the City will become unattractive to new businesses, which may opt to put
down roots in Bristol instead. Surprisingly, Bath’s creative sector contributes more
to its economy than retail and tourism combined; it’s evident that Greg’s concerns
are legitimate and justified.

The Bath Chronicle also published a subsequent feature highlighting the important
questions Greg’s column raised. As you can see from the reaction online, it’s
certainly an emotive issue that has really got people talking.
The discussion also prompted Bath Councilor, Cherry Beath, to write to The
Chronicle’s Editor directly, offering her full support to Creative Bath’s aims and
ambitions. She shares the view that developing Bath’s creative sector will benefit
the City’s economy as a whole, and therefore its impact will be felt by the entire
community, not just a select number of Creatives.
