'Jelly' comes to Creative Bath

Tuesday was ‘Jelly’ day here at CreativeBath. Not as strange as it sounds, this was an opportunity for creative people who normally work from home, to get together in one place, network and enjoy the company of other ‘coworkers’. This event was organized by CoWorkingWest, which has responded to demand from the housebound homeworking community by setting up jellies in Bristol and Bath. Ours was jelly no. 13. Unlucky for some, but hopefully not for us.

A quick chat with CoWorkingWest’s founder, Lee Cottier, a week or so beforehand and we were off. Lee came to check out the workspace here at the lovely MediaClash offices and to make sure we had sufficient powerpoints, wifi capacity and the usual things like access to kitchens and loos. Then he, and we, got tweeting.

CoWorkingWest is followed by almost 500 people on twitter and the 12 spaces we had available were snapped up within 24 hours.

Our twelve comprised an artist, a designer, some writers, a programmer, a PR consultant and mobile phone apps designer. They turned up from 9:30 bringing their laptops and creativity and we didn’t hear a peep until the last one left at 4pm. The feedback was good – cafes are too noisy and expensive and there is nowhere else in Bath they can go (some travel to Bristol to attend jellies there). With tea and biscuits also laid on, it was coworking heaven and one of the party has even talked about renting some desk space in the future. It’s a win-win.

To find out when and where the next Jelly is on, follow CoWorkingWest on twitter. Hopefully, we’ll be able to host another one at the MediaClash offices some time soon, but if you’d like to find out more about renting desk space at MediaClash, click here
