Graduate Internships Available
Warning: Graduate internships can seriously develop your business
... so let's create 25 new opportunities in 25 days!
With the city’s festive celebrations underway, a team of careers and business development professionals at Bath Spa University has thrown down the gauntlet to businesses and third sector organisations across Bath and North East Somerset: to create 25 graduate internships in the remaining 25 working days until Christmas.
And to make it all the more worthwhile, they’re offering eligible businesses up to £1,300 per internship to take part in the scheme.
Bath Spa University’s Graduate Internship Scheme enables local businesses to benefit from an injection of new talent whilst providing recent graduates with opportunities to work in and around Bath. In recent months, the likes of Teach-it, Alliance of Religions & Conservation, Wildfire Communications, Barefoot Books, The Duke of Edinburgh Award, Storm Consultancy, Koodibook, Fashion Enter, Hancock Communications and Jiva Technology have all benefitted from the scheme by successfully bringing on board recent graduates, complete with their high-level skills and fresh perspectives, to their business operations.
Adam Powell, the University’s Head of Employability said: “Amidst cuts across the public, private and third sectors, funding such as this is enabling real growth and bringing benefits to both organisations and recent graduates in the local area. We’ve set the target of creating 25 new internships in 25 days so that businesses and graduates can benefit from this initiative which, due to funding constraints, must come to an end soon. Charities and businesses, which hadn’t previously regarded themselves as ‘graduate employers’, are seeing tangible benefits to bringing talented graduates on board their teams – and we’ve evidence to show that this and other programmes like it are leading to job creation.”
Under the scheme which comes to an end shortly, Bath Spa University is making available over £30,000 to businesses across Bath and North East Somerset (and neighbouring areas). Businesses can receive £100 per week for a maximum of 13 weeks (paid upfront) towards the costs of taking on a graduate intern who typically works on valuable projects related to the skills and experience they’ve gained at university. The scheme is aimed primarily at SMEs with fewer than 50 employees, with priority (though not exclusivity) given to those in the digital/creative or low carbon sectors.
For further details, the opportunity to register for one of the 25 remaining graduate internships, and to hear recent feedback back from graduates and businesses please visit our section for Employers or e-mail placements@bathspa.ac.uk
Graduates interested in benefitting from one of the new internships should visit our placements section for graduates and use the same e-mail address - placements@bathspa.ac.uk - to get in touch.
Please note that due to the limited and time-sensitive nature of this programme, funding for the remaining 25 graduate internships will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis between now and the end of December 2010.
