Overview
As well as hiring the newly created workshop space adjacent to the Main Gallery, to artists wishing to run their own workshops, Black Swan Arts is looking to expand its pool of artists able to run workshops at weekends and school holidays.
Grant funding from Flourish Homes is enabling BSA to run a series of workshops for school children and for people with any sort of special need. These are based on the current exhibition, SMILE, and will run during the second half of this term. The workshops can either develop the theme of ‘smile’, or be based on one of the media used by the artists in the show – various textiles, ceramics, enamel, papier maché, automata, puppetry, animation and work created using found objects.
We have applied for further funding from other grant-giving bodies and hope to have education as a regular part of Black Swan Arts’ programme in the future. We would like therefore to establish a pool of artists, with various skills, able to run workshops for people of different ages and abilities. All workshops leaders must present a recent CRB check.
Please would anyone interested in running workshops contact Hilary Gilmore on hilary@blackswan.org.uk or 07949 681 328.
For more information on renting the workshop space please contact Charlie Thomas on charlie@blackswan.org.uk.
