Job Title: Junior UI/UX Designer

Location: Preferably South West UK-based (commutable to Bath), but UK remote working considered. Must have a current valid UK work permit.
 
An amazing opportunity for a driven junior designer, with a focus on UI/UX design of our highly technical data and analytics platform, has arisen in the creative team of our exciting and rapidly growing company.

 

The Role

You will be based alongside the Creative lead in the Marketing team, working across our suite of internal and external facing data analytics products creating intuitive and on brand user interfaces.

We have grown rapidly over the past few years and with even more growth ahead, we need to increase our design team to keep up with the demand. Your core focus will be on UI/UX design and occasionally you will also use your design skills to create graphics for social campaigns, web pages and sales collateral, among others, optimised for both online and offline consumption.

 

StatsBomb: Our Background

StatsBomb was founded in January 2017 to provide football data and analytics to clubs, media and gambling companies. StatsBomb continually undertake new research and are well known in the analytics industry for providing unique insights into the game. We have developed our own proprietary, industry leading data collection and analytics software with a user-friendly high-vis front end.

StatsBomb have grown from our initial team of 3 at the start of 2017 to over 150 employees based in our Head Office in Bath, UK, in the US and Egypt, and are continuing to grow and expand our operation.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with data analysts, product managers, customer success and engineering teams to design informative, intelligent, tools to enable our customers to interact with our platform in a clear way
  • Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps
  • Design graphic user interface elements, like menus, tabs and widgets
  • Build page navigation buttons and search fields
  • Develop UI mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how product pages function and look
  • Create original graphic designs (e.g. images, sketches and tables)
  • Prepare and present rough drafts to internal teams and key stakeholders
  • Identify and troubleshoot UX problems (e.g. responsiveness)
  • Conduct layout adjustments based on user feedback
  • Adhere to style standards on fonts, colors and images

 

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Over 3 years of experience working in a similar UI/UX role
  • Experience of / The ability to learn quickly about the relationship between design and data analysis
  • Experience of wireframe tool Adobe XD (or similar with willingness to learn)
  • Up-to-date knowledge of design software Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign
  • Drive to keep up to date with new techniques, technologies and trends to deliver cutting edge work
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as you will be working with the creative lead and other key stakeholders across the company to understand project scope and objectives
  • Strong creative instincts, an active imagination & the ability to translate your ideas into designs
  • Ability to comprehend and uphold brand style guidelines to produce output to match needs of business
  • A proactive approach
  • Ability to work well independently and also collaboratively as part of a team
  • Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines
  • A strong portfolio showcasing your ability including, but not limited to UI/UX projects
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment

 

Nice to have:

  • A degree or similar qualification in a related field
  • Experience with WordPress CMS, Notion and Pardot
  • Experience working across a suite of products
  • Familiarity with common programming languages, for example HTML, CSS, PHP and Javascript
  • A passion for Football and Sport data and analytics and an up to date knowledge of players and teams within multiple leagues
