This is a new position within the agency and one that reports directly into Clearly’s Managing Director, Paul. You will help lead and inspire a growing team, develop and execute people development plans, and strategic promotional strategies for the agency itself, represent the agency’s interests in both a PR and new business development perspective, and play a major role in supporting its continued growth.
What do you look for in a job description? A wee bit of blurb about the business and how tremendously amazing it is, the responsibilities associated with the advertised role, salary and benefits information, and details of the skills, experiences and attributes the employer is looking for? Sounds a bit same ole same ole, don’t you think?
Instead, let’s talk about the people you could be working with, the office you’ll share with your new colleagues, and what makes us the business we are.
Take our George. Top chap who joined the company in 2018 and gave the rest of us a run for our money with his naturally brilliant writing talent. We then learned he is a bit of a designer too and over the last 12 months George has developed Clearly’s creative capabilities.
Then there’s our Steph – the newbie in the team. She joined the company on day one of lockdown in March and is a pure PR machine. So much so that she has taken on the mantle of helping with the media outreach for Clearly itself.
And we have Helen. Initially hired on a three-month contract in early 2019, Helen never left and we’re all the better for it. With tons of experience, creative flair (she’s a published author don’t you know) and a penchant for new business, our Helen always has a solution to any challenge.
Not forgetting Emma, Vicki, Charlotte, Lindsey, Tommy, Rupert the Office Dog, and Paul. You can read more about the whole team on our People page.
Well, it’s super nice. Actually, it is rather marvellous if we say so ourselves. Location-wise we’re immediately behind The Assembly Rooms, two minutes from Bath’s main shopping area, and a four-minute walk from The Royal Crescent. Which is nice. But what’s better is we’re opposite Boston Tea Party (cake, we love cake) and on the same row as our favourite establishment in all of Bath – Beckford Bottle Shop.
We occupy a three-storey building, with the two main offices on the first floor, the main large meeting room and a studio room on the second floor, and a quiet office, cosy room and kitchen on the top floor. Working here will keep you fit!
We don’t do fluff. We’ll never say we’re the ‘leading this’ or the ‘best that’. People might attribute such accolades to us, which is rather lovely. But we only care about doing a blinkin’ great job by our clients, creating value at every opportunity, and providing opportunities for our people to fulfil their personal career ambitions.
That’s just a part of it. We’re all about helping those who need it most and doing what we can to protect the planet: 2 per cent of our annual fees fund environmental and social impact programs, and 10 per cent of the team’s time is allocated to providing pro bono services to social causes that matter to us.
Still reading? As you’ve gotten this far, it is only fair that we provide you with some specifics about the PR Director role itself.

Actually, you probably already have a good understanding of what a PR Director does. So rather than continue with a list as long as an arm, let’s talk it through instead. Sound good?
You are likely to be an Associate Director with your sights set on becoming a Director, but the opportunity to do so in your current agency doesn’t exist just yet. Or maybe the last few months saw you displaced from your previous employer and you are chomping at the bit to get back into agency life and take on a new challenge.
If this looks like a good fit for you then email your CV to Paul MacKenzie-Cummins, Managing Director at paul@clearlypr.co.uk, along with:
We’re all about helping those who need it most and doing what we can to protect the planet. While most other companies typically give an often unstated percentage of their net profit to fund various causes, we go a step further… quite a lot further in fact:
Clearly is an equal opportunities employer. We value diversity and inclusivity and are keen to hear from people regardless of ethnicity, race, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, religion, belief, or social background. Likewise, we are responsible for ensuring that our staff do not discriminate against, harass or victimise anyone they engage with during the course of their work. Clearly uses its voice to campaign against diversity and inclusion and is fully compliant with the Equalities Act 2010.
