I very much enjoy working in a creative environment with passionate like-minded people. I love learning new skills and building my knowledge all the time. I am quick to learn and easily absorb new information such as product features. I find this is a very key part of the selling process as customer confidence is greatly improved when I am able to respond calmly and assuredly to any questions that they have.

My role at Laura Ashley is varied, so good organisation is key. My selling and customer service skills have always been to a high standard and I always do the best I can for each customer as an individual. It is also important for me to role model our customer service approach and the standard expected in order to motivate and manage the team.
I work as part of a team to achieve the store sales targets. My key contribution is to analyse progress against targets and develop strategies to meet and exceed them. I communicate specific targets with the team and give them training or advice to promote and sell specific products or promotions. I am also responsible for providing feedback each week to the regional manager of progress against targets.
I strive to keep the store looking attractive, stocked to the right levels and presented to the Laura Ashley style, as this makes a huge impact on how the customers see the products. I am able to use my creative skills and eye for design in helping customers visualise what it is that they are looking for and then putting together pieces to suit their needs and budget.
In order to support the team and enable them to concentrate on sales, I work with my manager on the running of the store. This includes communicating and working towards store targets, planning rotas, banking and store operations, stock administration and health and safety checks.
I have contributed to the remerchandising of the main store (Centre of Excellence) to plan the setup of new season lines that will be replicated in other stores. I have also been involved in the trialling of new IT systems for use in-store and am confident in learning new platforms, training others and providing user experience feedback.
I have occasionally provided management cover for a larger store in Bristol when there were staff shortages.

The company has a very strong emphasis on customer service skills and I grew in confidence working here. I did a lot of the visual merchandising for the store, analysing sales reports to influence floor moves and merchandising.
I was also involved in recruitment and staff training, alongside motivating staff on a daily basis, giving them customer service skills to focus on and build their confidence. My promotion enabled me to develop my role within the team and learn new leadership skills, as well as a better understanding of how the business is run.

Working as part of a small team in this busy environment, I was able to develop a number of skills, often being ‘thrown in at the deep end’ and stepping in to support other team members. I developed my customer service skills and contributed to running an efficient service to maximise the number of covers served.

I was keen to develop my fine art drawing and painting skills to see how they could be applied to textile design. I loved working with new materials and learning many technical skills. Researching and creating mood boards really helped to drive my work.

Interests and hobbies
I love to draw, paint and sew and like to go on walks to take photographs that inspire my artwork. I also like going to galleries and exhibitions and think we have a wonderful selection in Bath. I enjoy cooking and baking and creating my own recipes. I am a keen reader and I have just started yoga classes, which I find help me to refocus my energy.
